Apple Vision Pro Pre-Order Process Revealed: Face Scan Required for Apple Users
We’re less than a month away from the launch of Apple‘s highly anticipated device, the Vision Pro, and details are starting to emerge about the pre-order process for the new device.
Pre-orders for Apple Vision Pro begin at 5 a.m. PT on Friday, Jan. 19. You can buy the Apple Vision Pro at Apple retail stores beginning Friday, Feb. 2. The cost of the device is $3,499.
When you order an Apple Vision Pro, you’ll need to scan your face with an iPhone or iPad with Face ID to ensure the proper fit of the light seal and headband. This requires the latest version of the Apple Store app released on January 11.
For non-Apple users, the pre-order process appears to be more complicated. It is unclear if it would be possible for a non-Apple user to pre-order through a friend’s phone. Non-Apple users might have to wait until the device is available for wider purchase.
Glasses wearers also face an extra challenge. The Apple Vision Pro is designed to be worn without glasses, and the company has partnered with ZEISS to create custom optical inserts for those who need them. The ordering process will require a valid prescription from a U.S. eye-care professional for those who need optical inserts.
If you’re an Apple user and want to pre-order the Apple Vision Pro without any complications, make sure to have an iPhone or iPad with Face ID ready to scan your face. For non-Apple users, it’s best to wait for more information on availability.
