Azurá Stevens Makes WNBA History Amid Sparks’ Struggles

Los Angeles, CA – Sparks forward Azurá Stevens continues to shine in the 2025 WNBA season, making headlines after a record-setting performance against the Chicago Sky. Despite the Sparks’ 97-86 loss on Thursday, Stevens’ achievements stood out.
In the game, Stevens scored 21 points, grabbed seven rebounds, and recorded two assists, four steals, and four blocked shots in just 30 minutes of play. She had an impressive shooting night, converting 8 of her 11 field goals (72.7 percent) and 4 of 7 three-point attempts (57.1 percent).
With her performance, Stevens became the first player in WNBA history to achieve at least 20 points, four steals, and four blocks while shooting 70% or better from the field in a single game. Although an official stat revision corrected her shooting percentage to 72.7%, the milestone remained significant.
Following the game, Stevens commented on the team’s fourth-quarter struggles. “Just stick to what’s working,” she said. “We kind of get away from that sometimes, and then it bleeds into us not getting stops. We’re rushing on offense and we’re trying to do too many things.”
During the season, Stevens has played in all 15 games for the Sparks, maintaining an average of over 28 minutes per game. She is currently averaging 13.9 points, 8.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.3 blocks. Her shooting splits are strong, including 48.7% from the field and 37.1% from beyond the arc, marking career highs in points, rebounds, and steals.
The Sparks face the Indiana Fever on June 29, seeking to improve their record of 4-9 and regain momentum after a tough start. Stevens and her teammates are focused on turning their season around and finding consistency in their performance.
