Cade Cunningham Logs Sixth Career Triple-Double and Sets New Franchise Mark
Cade Cunningham continued to impress in the 2024-25 NBA season, logging his sixth career triple-double and his fourth of the season in the Detroit Pistons‘ 124-104 win over the Washington Wizards on Sunday.
In the victory, Cunningham showcased his all-around skills, scoring 21 points on 7-15 shooting, including 2-4 from three-point range and 5-5 from the free throw line. He also contributed 10 assists, 10 rebounds, a career-high five steals, and one block over 31 minutes of play.
This performance not only marked a significant individual achievement but also moved Cunningham up the Detroit Pistons’ franchise leaderboard. With this sixth triple-double, he now holds the second-most triple-doubles in Pistons history, trailing only Grant Hill who has 29. Cunningham surpassed Isiah Thomas, who had five triple-doubles in 979 games, achieving this milestone in just 153 games.
For the month of November, Cunningham has averaged 21.8 points, 9.4 assists, and 8.2 rebounds over 36.1 minutes per game. His overall season statistics include 23.1 points, 8.7 assists, and 7.3 rebounds per contest. This consistent high-level performance has made him a significant threat every time he steps onto the court, particularly in the last 10 games where he has averaged similar numbers and recorded four triple-doubles.
Cunningham’s ability to read defenses and involve his teammates has been a key factor in the Pistons’ recent success. Despite a tough schedule, the Pistons have managed a 7-8 record, with Cunningham being a central figure in their offense and defense. His unselfish play and ability to make the right reads have led to an increase in his assist numbers, making him one of the top assist leaders in the NBA.
