Deadly Tornadoes Strike Central Ohio: Multiple Fatalities Reported
Multiple deaths have been reported after a series of violent tornadoes ripped through central Ohio on Thursday night, with Logan County bearing the brunt of the devastation.
The storms, accompanied by strong winds and suspected tornadoes, prompted tornado warnings from Storm Team 4 and NBC4 from 8:30 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. on Thursday.
The Logan County coroner confirmed three fatalities in Logan County as a result of the severe weather, with additional cleanup efforts set to commence on Friday.
Reports of a ‘mass casualty event’ emerged from the Logan County Emergency Management Agency, detailing downed trees and damaged homes in areas like Lakewood, Midway, and Orchard Island.
The Mary Rutan Hospital in Bellefontaine saw an influx of 19 patients with weather-related injuries, mostly bone fractures and concussions, prompting the hospital to mobilize mass casualty protocols to accommodate the surge.
