Gavin And Stacey Christmas Special Filming

The cast of the beloved TV series Gavin & Stacey has been spotted on set for what is being billed as the show’s final episode.

On Wednesday morning, Ruth Jones, who portrays Nessa Jenkins, and Joanna Page, who plays Stacey Shipman, were seen sharing laughs during filming in Barry, Wales.

Jones was dressed in an all-black outfit, while Page sported a blue denim jacket paired with jeans and an orange top.

James Corden, who plays Neil “Smithy” Smith, was also seen in the town chatting with locals as filming commenced the previous day. Speaking to BBC Breakfast, he expressed his feelings about the final episode, stating, “It’s lovely, it’s wonderful, all of it, it’s all overwhelming, the fact it’s probably the last time I’ll probably ever be here.”

The hit sitcom aired for three series from 2007 to 2010 and made a return in 2019 for a Christmas special, which concluded with a cliffhanger when Jones’s character proposed to Smithy.

In the series, Mathew Horne and Page portray Gavin and Stacey, while Larry Lamb plays Gavin’s father Mick, Melanie Walters is Stacey’s widowed mother Gwen, and Rob Brydon plays her Uncle Bryn.

In May, Corden announced the show’s return via Instagram, showing an image of him and Jones alongside a script titled Gavin & Stacey: The Finale, set for broadcast on Christmas Day 2024.

Corden and Jones completed writing the script for the final episode earlier this year. The 2019 festive special received significant viewership, with an average audience of 11.6 million, becoming the biggest festive special since Christmas Day 2008.

The cast has been spotted filming the finale in Barry Island, with various reports highlighting Corden’s interaction with fans and locals during the production.
