Groovin the Moo Tickets Sell Out in Record Time as Festival Moves to Beachside Location
Tickets for the popular music festival, Groovin the Moo, sold out in less than an hour as it relocated to a beachside venue. The tickets went on sale at 10 am on Tuesday, February 6, with first and second releases selling out within 30 minutes, leaving organizers feeling positive about the move. While cheaper ticket prices have already been exhausted, third and fourth release tickets are still available for purchase until May 4.
The festival, known for its traveling format, is set to take place in Newcastle‘s Foreshore Park on Saturday, May 4. This marks a significant change from its previous location in Maitland, where it has been held since 2006. The City of Newcastle is anticipating an estimated attendance of 25,000 punters, highlighting the city’s growing reputation as a top destination for major concerts and events.
Groovin the Moo’s first year in 2005 saw it hosted in Gloucester before it moved to Maitland the following year. The festival’s national tour consists of seven legs, including Wayville, Canberra, Bendigo, Sunshine Coast, and Bunbury.
This year’s lineup features a mix of international and Australian artists. US rappers GZA from Wu-Tang and Armani White, singer-songwriter Stephen Sanchez, and UK band The Kooks are among the overseas acts performing. Sporty Spice turned DJ, Mel C, and fellow UK artist Mura Masa will also be spinning the decks. Australian favorites such as rock band Jet, The Jungle Giants, King Stingray, Mallrat, and DMA's complete the impressive roster.
The relocation of Groovin the Moo to Newcastle follows successful concerts by Elton John and Paul McCartney, as well as the upcoming sold-out Pink concert. Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes expressed her excitement about Newcastle becoming a must-stop destination for promoters seeking a world-class city for their national concert tours.
