Body Count Comfortably Numb Music Video

On October 10, 2024, Body Count, the metal band led by hip-hop icon Ice-T, unveiled the official music video for their rendition of “Comfortably Numb.” This new take on Pink Floyd‘s classic track features legendary guitarist David Gilmour, whose original work on the song is widely celebrated. Known for its exploration of themes such as detachment and introspection, the track receives a fresh interpretation with Ice-T’s profound lyrics and Body Count’s signature intensity.

“Comfortably Numb” is featured on Body Count’s upcoming album “Merciless,” slated for release on November 22 through Century Media. Ice-T commented on the reinterpretation, saying, “For me, ‘Comfortably Numb’ is an introspective song — it’s me acknowledging that I’m older now. I’m telling the younger generation, you’ve got two choices: you can keep the fire burning or you can give up.”

Gilmour, who initially was approached solely for permission to use the song, decided to contribute as well. “Body Count’s version of ‘Comfortably Numb’ is quite radical, but the words really struck me,” Gilmour stated. “It astonishes me that a tune I wrote almost 50 years ago is back with this great new approach.”

Body Count recently released another single, “Psychopath,” their first since 2020’s Grammy-winning “Bum-Rush.” The track, featuring guest vocalist Joe Badolato of Fit for an Autopsy, sets the stage for Body Count’s next chapter. The music video for “Psychopath,” directed by Jay Scorsese, draws inspiration from both fictional and real-life horrors.

The album “Merciless” follows their critically acclaimed “Carnivore,” which was released in March 2020. Body Count’s mix of impassioned lyrics and heavy guitar riffs has maintained their unique place in the metal scene since their formation over 35 years ago by Ice-T and guitarist Ernie C.

Body Count’s current lineup includes Ice-T, Ernie C., Sean E. Sean, Vincent Price, Will “Ill Will” Dorsey, Juan “Juan Of The Dead” Garcia, and Little Ice. They completed a European tour earlier this year and are scheduled to perform at the Louder Than Life festival in Kentucky and Aftershock festival in California.

With a rich history of addressing social issues through music, Body Count remains an influential force, continuing to inspire new generations with their powerful sound and thought-provoking lyrics.
