Fridrik Leo Curtis Arizona State Basketball Commit

Fridrik Leo Curtis, a 7-foot-1 center from Iceland and a standout at CATS Academy in Massachusetts, has committed to Arizona State University for the 2025 men’s basketball class. Curtis, ranked No. 70 overall and No. 10 among centers in the 2025 cycle, chose the Sun Devils over offers from West Virginia, Alabama, Indiana, and UCF, among others.

Curtis, who played for IR Reykjavik in the Iceland Subway League during the 2023-24 season, averaged 15.4 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks per game. Known for his versatility, he shot 42% from three-point range, showcasing his ability as a floor-spacing big man.

In an interview with On3, Curtis praised Arizona State’s recruiting efforts, stating, ‘ASU did a good job recruiting me. I believe their style fits how I play, and I can see myself playing when I watch them. I think it’s a really good program, and I like the facilities and the campus.’

Curtis also highlighted his relationship with the coaching staff, saying, ‘I was able to build a really good relationship with the staff in a short amount of time since coming to the states. They have a good plan that fits my game and development.’

Describing his playing style, Curtis said, ‘I’m a tall, versatile player that can shoot, attack mismatches, block shots, and make the right read. I move well and have a good feel for the game.’ He also expressed excitement about joining the Sun Devils, adding, ‘I think Coach Hurley and ASU have something really good going on, and I can’t wait to become a part of that! #Forksup 🔱⬆️.’

Curtis becomes Arizona State’s second commitment for the 2025 class, joining three-star combo guard Trevor Best. The Sun Devils are also targeting Gilbert product Koa Peat, a five-star prospect, as they continue to build their roster.
