Iowa Hosts No. 11 Indiana for Homecoming Showdown

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa football team will host No. 11 Indiana for Homecoming on Saturday, Sept. 27, at Kinnick Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2:35 p.m. (CT) and the game will be streamed on Peacock.

Iowa, with a 3-1 record, is looking to extend its winning streak at home. The Hawkeyes have won four straight and eight of their last nine meetings against Indiana since 2008, including a previous Homecoming victory against the Hoosiers in 2014.

The Hawkeyes come into this game ranked seventh nationally in rushing defense, allowing just 60.8 yards per game. Iowa’s strong defense is complemented by a potent offense that averages 33.5 points per game. Graduate quarterback Mark Gronowski is a key player, having scored six rushing touchdowns this season and leading the team with 143 rushing yards.

Before the game, Dan McCarney, a former player and assistant coach at Iowa, will serve as the honorary captain. McCarney, who played for the Hawkeyes from 1972 to 1974, had a significant coaching career, including stints at Iowa State and Florida.

The Hawkeyes are also aiming for their first victory over a ranked opponent since defeating No. 4 Penn State in 2021. The excitement around Homecoming and the team’s current form will add to the atmosphere as Iowa seeks to improve on their record against Indiana.

As for Indiana, they are entering this matchup with a strong 4-0 record and have consistently shown their prowess in the conference. Both teams will be vying for a crucial win as the season progresses.
