Jackson Blake Shines in Hurricanes’ Overtime Victory
RALEIGH, N.C. — Jackson Blake scored a crucial goal in overtime, leading the Carolina Hurricanes to a 3-2 win over the New York Rangers on Monday night. The victory at Lenovo Center showcased Blake’s growing importance on the team.
With just 13 seconds remaining in overtime, Blake redirected a wrist shot from Sebastian Aho past Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin, clinching the win for the Hurricanes. Blake’s performance comes on the heels of a strong showing against the Detroit Red Wings, where he scored during a 5-2 victory.
In the recent game against Detroit, Blake had four points in his last five outings, with three goals. He attributed his success to increased ice time and responsibility this season. “I feel more confident on the ice, and that has translated to better play,” Blake said.
The Hurricanes (24-11-3) extended their current winning streak to two games, improving their record to 7-2-1 in their last ten games. Aho and Jordan Martinook also contributed to the win with key goals, while goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov made 17 saves.
The Rangers (19-17-5) struggled to maintain their lead after Vladislav Gavrikov opened the scoring with a power-play goal. New York had momentarily regained the lead with another goal from Jonny Brodzinski, but Carolina’s resilience proved too much.
Blake is on pace for an impressive season, projected to tally 50 points and over 20 goals, demonstrating his development as a key player for the Hurricanes.
