Jason Aldean Gator Hunting In Louisiana

CATAHOULA, La. (AP) — Country star Jason Aldean spent a day of adventure in Louisiana ahead of his concert at the Cajundome in Lafayette on Thursday. The singer participated in a gator hunt on September 24, 2025, fulfilling a lifelong dream.

Aldean was at Red’s Levee Bar in Catahoula, a local institution since 1952, where he signed merchandise and mingled with fans. Liz Higginbotham, the bar’s owner, organized the gator hunt with the help of Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry, who provided hunting tags.

A few years back, Higginbotham met Aldean’s father, Barry, and discussions about the hunt began. “We started planning this months ago, because Jason had never done an alligator hunt,” Higginbotham explained.

On the day of the hunt, Aldean, his father, and others managed to catch about ten alligators, including a notable ten-foot, five-inch gator that Aldean himself bagged. After the successful outing, the group enjoyed a meal at Higginbotham’s home, which included local dishes.

Later, Aldean visited Red’s Levee Bar, delighting patrons with casual conversation and even pretending to bartend. “He came behind the bar and visited with people; it was a long time since he had been in a little dive bar like that,” Higginbotham said.

As word spread, it became quite the social moment in Catahoula. “It was a really great day,” Higginbotham reflected. The fun-filled day preceded Aldean’s scheduled concert, where doors are set to open at 6 p.m. and the show will start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are still available starting at $75.
