LOS ANGELES, CA – March 7, 2025 – Jennie‘s highly anticipated solo album ‘Ruby‘ debuted today, marking a significant moment in her music career following the recent solo projects of her BLACKPINK bandmates. The album features 15 tracks, blending elements of R&B, pop, and hip-hop, and showcases Jennie’s unique style and artistic direction.

The album opener, ‘Jane,’ introduces listeners to a world of soft melodies over a gentle music-box undertone, gradually shifting into a percussive beat accompanied by synthesizers. This sonic evolution captures the album’s essence of unpredictability, exemplified by the edgy declaration, ‘Come on, it’s gon’ be fuckin’ hard.’

‘Ruby’ follows the recent solo releases from other BLACKPINK members: Rosé’s ‘R’ in December, Jisoo‘s ‘Amortage’ on February 14, and Lisa‘s ‘Alter Ego’ last week. Each member has carved out their own niche in the music industry, contributing to an exciting new chapter for the worldwide K-pop phenomenon.

Among its standout tracks is ‘Handlebars,’ a collaboration with Dua Lipa that transforms the pain of unrequited love into a catchy anthem, while ‘Damn Right,’ featuring Kali Uchis, highlights dreamy vocals and a laid-back atmosphere. Jennie’s playful delivery on tracks like ‘Mantra’ emphasizes a confident and empowering message.

If there is a central artistic influence on ‘Ruby,’ it appears to be Rihanna‘s earlier work, particularly her introspective album ‘Anti.’ The atmospheric tones found in tracks like ‘Seoul City’ and the punchy ‘Zen’ echo this influence, creating a compelling tension between light and shadow throughout the album.

Additionally, Jennie’s personal and artistic evolution is underscored by her new label, ODDATELIER, established in late 2023. The label aims to allow Jennie creative freedom, enabling her to present her most authentic self, far beyond her BLACKPINK persona.

‘Ruby’ not only signifies Jennie’s return to solo artistry since her debut single ‘SOLO’ in 2018 but also showcases her growth as an artist over the past five years. The themes of confidence, empowerment, and genre-blending resonate throughout the project, reflected in bold visuals and music videos that accompany the album.

Fans eagerly anticipate forthcoming live performances, including ‘The Ruby Experience’ concerts in Los Angeles, New York, and Seoul, as well as Jennie’s much-anticipated appearance at Coachella 2025, marking her first return to the festival as a solo artist.
