Joy Behar Absent from ‘The View’ Due to Foot Injury
New York, NY — Joy Behar, 83, was absent from her scheduled appearances on ABC’s ‘The View‘ on November 11 and 12, as well as taking a day off on November 10. During the broadcast on November 12, her co-host Whoopi Goldberg explained the situation to viewers.
Goldberg opened the show by welcoming the audience, stating, “Well, hello, hello, hello, and welcome to The View, y’all. Now, Joy is out because she hurt her foot, and hopefully she’ll be back here tomorrow.” This followed an earlier announcement by Goldberg on November 11, where she noted that Behar would be ‘out’ for the following taping.
The November 12 episode featured Goldberg, along with other panelists, who filled in for Behar, who has been a prominent member of the show since its debut in 1997, barring a brief period from 2013 to 2015.
Another segment of the show included a heartfelt tribute to a longtime friend of the panel, Paul Shaffer, who recently passed away at the age of 59. Goldberg described him as “quite a guy” who will be “absolutely missed.”
Behar’s career began in comedy, and she revealed in January of this year that her agent initially advised her against joining ‘The View’. At the time, she was on the verge of landing a sitcom gig. Behar remarked, “Do you know that my agent told me not to take it?” Despite the initial concerns over the show’s pay, she recognized its potential with Barbara Walters at the helm.
‘The View’ airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
