Mexican Television Mourns Loss of Visionary Producer Guillermo del Bosque

MEXICO CITY, Mexico — The Mexican entertainment industry is in mourning following the death of Guillermo “Memo” del Bosque, a renowned television producer who dramatically reshaped the media landscape in the country. Del Bosque passed away on April 7, 2025, at the age of 64, after a prolonged battle with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Born on February 15, 1961, in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, del Bosque demonstrated an early passion for media and communication. He pursued a degree in Communication from the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, graduate school that laid the foundation for his prolific career in television.

Del Bosque made a significant mark on the industry during the early ’90s after relocating to Mexico City. His career skyrocketed in 1993 with the launch of Telehit, Mexico’s first music television channel. Cancer was a fierce battle that I fought with all I had, but God has decided that this illness should not hurt me any longer.”

He reflected on cherished moments with his children and thanked friends for their steadfast support throughout his struggle. His poignant farewell resonated with many, showcasing his spiritual perspective and appreciation for life. Del Bosque concluded his message, “Now I’ve finished the fight, my struggle is over, and I’m a new being rejoicing in the presence of my Creator.
