REDMOND, Wash. — Microsoft has unveiled the pricing for its new handheld gaming devices, the ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X, set to hit the market on October 16. The base model, the ROG Xbox Ally, is priced at $599.99, while the advanced ROG Xbox Ally X will cost $999.99.
Speculation about the devices’ price points had circulated for weeks, with recent leaks suggesting the base model could sell for $549.99 and the Ally X for around $849.99. The revealed prices are stirring dissatisfaction among gamers hoping for a lower cost for the premium model.
For those ready to make a purchase, pre-sales have started, with the ROG Xbox Ally X being available exclusively at Best Buy. The pricing reflects the impact of Trump-era tariffs on gaming products, as Microsoft recently announced an increase in console prices.
Both devices are designed for gamers on the go, incorporating Windows-based technology. The ROG Xbox Ally features a 7-inch display, powered by an AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. In comparison, the Ally X boasts a more powerful AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor with 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
In addition to the handhelds, accessories such as a hardshell carrying case are also available for $69.99, while an AC adapter that includes HDMI and USB ports costs $99.99. The reveal coincides with the Tokyo Game Show event, drawing attention to the new Xbox offerings.
As the gaming industry continues to evolve, the ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X aim to cater to a segment of gamers who desire powerful, portable devices for their gaming experiences.
