Mike Pence Reflects on January 6th Anniversary
WASHINGTON — This morning, AAF Founder Vice President Mike Pence released a statement on X regarding the fifth anniversary of January 6, 2021. In his message, Pence expressed his thoughts about that pivotal day during the ceremony for the John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award last year.
Pence highlighted the bravery of the men and women in uniform, calling them the true heroes of that day. He stated, “I will always believe that, by God’s grace, I did my duty to see to the peaceful transfer of power under the Constitution.” He also conveyed gratitude to the many Americans who have offered encouragement over the past five years.
“January 6 was a tragic day,” Pence noted, “but it became a triumph of freedom when, after Capitol Police quelled the violence, leaders in both chambers in both political parties reconvened the very same day and finished democracy’s work under the Constitution.”
He emphasized the importance of the Constitution as a common ground and expressed hope for the future, stating, “In these divided times, I believe more than ever that on that common ground we will forge a boundless future together and America’s best days are yet to come. So Help Us God.”
Advancing American Freedom, the nonprofit organization Pence founded, works to develop and promote conservative policy solutions aimed at improving the lives of all Americans.
