National Popcorn Day 2025: Theater Chains Offer Deals Nationwide
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Movie theaters across the U.S. are rolling out special deals to celebrate National Popcorn Day on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025. Organized by The Cinema Foundation, a California-based nonprofit, the event highlights America’s favorite movie snack with discounts, promotions, and giveaways at over 30,000 theaters nationwide.
Bryan Braunlich, executive director of The Cinema Foundation, emphasized the significance of the day in a news release. “This Sunday is the perfect day to catch up on all the awards contenders, along with a slate of other entertaining titles, to celebrate the excitement of going to the movies with America’s favorite moviegoing snack,” Braunlich said.
AMC Theatres is leading the charge with its “Perfectly Popcorn” deal, offering unlimited refills on any size popcorn purchased on Sunday. The chain is also collaborating with DoorDash and Uber Eats to deliver popcorn to customers’ homes, with a $5 discount on orders over $20. Additionally, AMC Stubs members can enjoy free refills on large popcorn purchases year-round and other perks like birthday freebies and rewards points.
Cinemark is hosting a “BYOBucket” event, allowing customers to fill any clean container (up to 400 ounces) with popcorn for $5. The chain is also offering $5 XL popcorns and a sweepstakes for a free large popcorn. Online gift card purchases will be discounted by 10% on Sunday.
Regal Cinemas is rewarding its Crown Club members with a free small popcorn and a chance to win a year’s worth of premium collectible containers. Marcus Theatres is offering free popcorn to new members, while B&B Theatres is giving its Backstage Pass Loyalty Program members a free small popcorn and a chance to win free popcorn for a year.
Other chains, including Santikos Grand & AmStar Cinemas, Harkins Theatre, Angelika Film Center, and Reading Cinemas, are offering discounts ranging from 50% off popcorn to special combo deals. Cinergy Cinemas and D’Place Entertainment are also joining the celebration with free popcorn offers and upgrades.
Even Canadian chain Cineplex is participating, offering free small popcorn to its SCENE members from Friday to Sunday. Meanwhile, Cinelounge is donating proceeds from small popcorn sales to the Pasadena Humane Society to support wildfire relief efforts.
For popcorn enthusiasts, Jolly Time is offering 40% off online orders with the promo code POPPIN. National Popcorn Day 2025 promises to be a treat for moviegoers and snack lovers alike.
