LOS ANGELES, CA – 87North, the production company known for films like “John Wick” and “Nobody,” kicked off its second annual Stunt Design Showdown on October 29, 2025. This competition is aimed at fostering upcoming stunt performers, providing them professional resources, mentorship, and exposure to industry elites.

The competition lasts for 56 hours, during which teams work with the same script and timeline to ensure fair play. It emphasizes storytelling, choreography, and effective cinematic execution. Co-founded by director David Leitch, the event aims to promote creativity and technical precision in stunt work.

Actor Pete Davidson, who collaborates with Leitch on his upcoming film “How to Rob a Bank,” shared his enthusiasm about working with skilled stunt coordinators. “I was just amazed at how the stunts team is like a family,” Davidson told Variety. He commended their attention to detail and supportive atmosphere, noting how personal adjustments were made for his performance.

This year’s showdown offered impressive prizes, including a one-year membership to 87North Action Design, a one-day professional workshop with Narrator Inc., and a DJI camera package. The team Code 10-10 was named the grand prize winner. “The submissions were insane this year,” said Leitch, who found it challenging to select a winner due to the high quality of entries.

Davidson highlighted the lack of public understanding regarding the intensity and skill involved in stunt work. “People really don’t understand how hard these guys work,” he said, urging viewers to appreciate the talents behind action sequences in films.

Leitch emphasized the artistic nature of stunt coordination, equating it with other creative roles in the film industry. He hopes the recognition from the Stunt Design Showdown will inspire more professionals in the field, paving the way for stunt coordinators to gain the recognition they deserve.
