Oregon Ducks Basketball Legacy in the NBA: Five Stars Shine

EUGENE, Ore. — The Oregon Ducks men’s basketball program continues to make a significant impact in the NBA, highlighted by the success of five former players who are making their mark in the league.
Coached by Dana Altman, the Ducks have won 20 or more games in each of his 15 seasons, earning multiple NCAA Tournament appearances, though a national championship remains elusive.
Payton Pritchard, a prominent player from 2016 to 2020, has become a vital part of the Boston Celtics, thriving as a backup guard after being drafted 26th overall in the 2020 NBA Draft. Pritchard’s 2024-25 statistics show an increase in productivity with 14.3 points per game, suggesting a potential increase in his role with the Celtics this season.
Dillon Brooks, who played pivotal roles during his time at Oregon, starts his second season with the Houston Rockets after moving from the Memphis Grizzlies. Known for his defensive prowess and ability to score, Brooks will hopefully show resilience in his new role.
Chris Boucher, who spent years with the Toronto Raptors, recently signed with the Celtics to bolster their frontcourt at a time when Jayson Tatum will be sidelined due to injury.
N'Faly Dante, now with the Atlanta Hawks, is expected to spend considerable time in the G League but is recognized for his potential. Dante’s performance last season gives fans hope for his development this year.
Lastly, Kel'el Ware emerged as a notable contributor for the Miami Heat, showing promise last season with 36 started games. As his second season kicks off, Ware’s growth remains a point of interest for spectators.
As the 2025-26 NBA season opens, these former Ducks continue to cement their legacy in professional basketball and attract attention from fans and analysts alike.
