Ovechkin, Fehervary Set for Preseason Action Against Bruins

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Alex Ovechkin and Martin Fehervary are expected to make their preseason debuts for the Washington Capitals against the Boston Bruins on Thursday night at Capital One Arena.
The matchup, scheduled for 7 p.m. ET, marks Washington’s first home game of the 2025 preseason. The Bruins enter the game with a record of 2-1-1 while the Capitals are undefeated at 4-0-0 following a recent victory against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Ovechkin has recovered from a lower body injury that kept him from participating in the first half of training camp. Fehervary, meanwhile, is returning from knee surgery he underwent back in April. Both players are poised to contribute significantly as the Caps continue to shape their roster for the upcoming season.
In their last outing, the Capitals narrowly defeated the Blue Jackets 4-3, marking their fourth straight win in the preseason. Washington has shown impressive resilience, trailing for only 31 seconds throughout their preseason games so far.
Goalie Logan Thompson was instrumental in the recent victory against Columbus, stopping 36 of 39 shots. He expressed his readiness for the challenges presented by high-caliber teams like the Jackets. “I knew coming in they were going to take some shots, and I was just looking forward to the challenge,” Thompson said.
Capitals coach Spencer Carbery praised the performances of Ovechkin and Fehervary, expressing excitement over their return to the ice. “I think this is good timing. It gives him a couple of opportunities to get into games and a few practices to get ramped up for next Wednesday,” Carbery said.
After Thursday’s game, Ovechkin is expected to participate in a rematch against the Blue Jackets on Saturday, which serves as a final test before the regular season begins.
