HOLLYWOOD, CA — Rumors are swirling that actor Patrick Stewart may be set to retire from acting after his upcoming role in the film Avengers: Doomsday. According to reports from The Kristian Harloff Show shared on X (formerly Twitter), Stewart’s appearance as Professor Charles Xavier in the film could serve as not just the character’s last outing but also his final performance overall.

The rumors started gaining traction on November 4, 2025, with a tweet from MCU Film News suggesting that Stewart, 83, would conclude his illustrious career in this role. While these claims have circulated widely, neither Stewart nor Marvel has officially confirmed them.

Previously, Stewart hinted at his retirement from the role after the 2017 film Logan, which gave the character a compelling conclusion. However, he made a surprise return for a cameo in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Fans have mixed feelings about the potential retirement. In a past interview, Stewart expressed his feelings about acting, stating, “So long as the body and the mind are capable, I shall be going off to rehearsals. Stopping is unthinkable. What would I do? This is my life.” This suggests that while he may slow down in film roles, he might continue performing on stage.

With Avengers: Doomsday set to release on December 18, 2026, speculation about Stewart’s career continues to grow. Current speculation remains unproven, though many hope to see him continue in some capacity in Hollywood and theater.
