LOS ANGELES, CA — Samuel L. Jackson revealed that he initially had no idea he was cast as a Jedi when he joined the Star Wars franchise. Jackson, who plays Mace Windu, has become a fan-favorite for his portrayal of the powerful character in the beloved series.

Jackson’s fascination with the Star Wars universe predated his casting. He expressed his enthusiasm for any role in the films, saying he would have been happy to play even a stormtrooper. However, he was shocked to learn about his character’s true nature once he arrived on set.

In a recent interview, Jackson recalled, “Once they started fitting Jedi robes on me, I was like, ‘Hey, who is this guy? This is gonna be cool.’ So, there was no way I was not going to do it.” This revealing moment highlights the extensive secrecy often surrounding Star Wars productions.

Mace Windu, though a crucial character in the prequel trilogy and in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, was introduced in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. His signature purple lightsaber, one of the rarest in the saga, did not make an appearance until Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones.

Jackson’s most memorable lightsaber duel came in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, where he faced off against Emperor Palpatine. This pivotal encounter remains a defining moment for his character. Despite not knowing he would be portraying such an iconic figure, Jackson embraced the role wholeheartedly.
