Sarah Boone Trial: Disturbing Details Emerge in Suitcase Murder Case
Sarah Boone is currently on trial in Orlando, Florida, for the second-degree murder of her boyfriend, Jorge Torres Jr. The case has garnered significant attention due to its disturbing nature. Prosecutors allege that Boone intentionally zipped Torres into a suitcase and filmed him as he begged for his life, eventually suffocating to death.
The trial, which began on October 14, 2024, after a short delay due to Hurricane Milton, has revealed shocking details. A video presented in court, extracted from Boone’s phone by digital forensics examiner Junella Uadan, shows Torres trapped in the suitcase, yelling for help and stating he couldn’t breathe. Boone’s response in the video was, “That’s how I feel when you cheat on me,” further complicating the case.
Boone has claimed she was a battered woman and has asserted self-defense. She turned down a plea deal for a lesser charge of manslaughter with a 15-year sentence shortly before the trial. Boone has been in custody since February 2020 and has gone through eight state-appointed attorneys before her current lawyers took the case less than 45 days before the trial.
The defense has requested to present evidence related to battered spouse syndrome, which the prosecution has opposed. The judge has denied the defense’s request for a continuance, given that the new lawyers took the case knowing the trial would proceed in early October.
On the third day of the trial, Boone took the stand to testify in her own defense. The trial continues with the jury composed of six members deliberating on the second-degree murder charge).
