Seahawks Prepare for Key Matchup Against Cardinals Amid Injury Concerns

PHOENIX — The Seattle Seahawks are set to face the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday night in a crucial NFC West matchup. Both teams are tied with a 2-1 record, making this game vital for positioning in the division.
The Seahawks will welcome back Pro Bowlers cornerback Tariq Woolen and safety Jamal Adams, who are off the injury report. However, they may have to navigate the game without several key players. Running back Zach Charbonnet (toe) is listed as questionable, alongside outside linebacker Darrell Taylor (toe) and right guard Abe Lucas (back). Rookie safety J.L. Skinner (ankle) is doubtful.
Seattle placed rookie fullback Michael Burton on injured reserve due to an ankle injury earlier this week, further depleting their roster. Head coach Pete Carroll expressed optimism about Charbonnet’s recovery, stating he participated fully in practice leading up to the game.
“He looked good in practice, and we’re hopeful to have him available,” Carroll said. “We’ll see how he feels before the game.”
Despite missing multiple starters, the Seahawks have managed to maintain a potent offense, scoring 61 points in their last two games. Quarterback Sam Darnold has thrown four touchdowns against two interceptions, helping the team climb to fifth in the NFL in scoring.
The Cardinals will provide a tough challenge, especially with their strong defensive front. This game will serve as a test for Seattle’s revamped offensive line, which has struggled in previous seasons. Last year, the team allowed 54 sacks, and the coaches are depending on a mix of improved personnel and Kubiak‘s scheme to optimize their performance.
“We understand our opportunities,” Darnold said. “It’s a chance for us to show our growth and determination against a tough opponent.”
The Seahawks are eager to prove themselves this season amid past struggles, and this game against the Cardinals may serve as a critical moment in their trajectory.
