Toluca Fails to Secure Win, Eager for Last Matches in Liga MX
Toluca, Mexico – On Saturday, November 1, 2025, Toluca FC faced off against Atlas in the Liga MX Jornada 16, ending the match in a disappointing 0-0 draw. This result left the Diablos Rojos needing a win to reclaim their position at the top of the standings, but they were unable to capitalize at Estadio Jalisco.
Despite fielding a nearly complete squad, Toluca missed a significant player: Alexis Vega, who is recovering from injury. Coach Antonio Mohamed expressed confidence about Vega’s return for the Liguilla playoffs. “The recovery process is normal and he will be ready for our first game in late November,” Mohamed stated during a press conference.
With only one match left in the regular season, Cruz Azul has taken the lead in the standings. Toluca’s next challenge comes against América, a pivotal game in their quest for a stronger postseason position. “We did everything to win but lacked the necessary sharpness,” Mohamed commented on the match against Atlas. He emphasized the importance of finishing the regular season strongly and maintaining their competitive edge.
On the other hand, América defeated León 2-0, allowing them to scale the standings. Their coach, André Jardine, expressed excitement about ending the tournament on a high note and emphasized their aim for the top position in the league.
Meanwhile, Pumas must also secure a win against Tijuana to retain their playoff hopes, with both teams in increased need of points as the regular season draws to a close.
