Trump Cabinet Nominees Targeted with Bomb Threats and ‘Swatting’ Attacks
Several of Donald Trump‘s cabinet nominees and appointees have been targeted with violent threats, including bomb threats and ‘swatting’, according to a statement from the Trump transition team. The threats were made on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, prompting swift action from law enforcement to ensure the safety of those targeted.
Trump-Vance transition spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt confirmed the incidents, describing them as “violent threats” that ranged from bomb threats to ‘swatting’. Swatting involves reporting a false crime to induce a heavy, armed police response at someone’s home. Leavitt did not specify which individuals were targeted or provide details on the nature of the threats.
Despite the seriousness of these incidents, Leavitt emphasized that such acts of intimidation and violence would not deter the team. “With President Trump as our example, dangerous acts of intimidation and violence will not deter us,” she said. The transition team remains focused on uniting the nation and ensuring a safe and prosperous future.
The recent threats come as Trump has been announcing his core Cabinet picks, many of whom are considered loyalists who will implement policies promised during his campaign. This includes international trade attorney Jamieson Greer as U.S. trade representative and economic adviser Kevin Hassett as National Economic Council director.
Among the targets were reportedly Rep. Elise Stefanik, Trump’s nominee for United Nations ambassador, and other unspecified appointees. The FBI and the Justice Department have not yet commented on the incidents.
