Veteran Nollywood Actor Otunba Ayobami Mudashir Olabiyi Passes Away
Veteran Nollywood actor and esteemed member of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Otunba Ayobami Mudashir Olabiyi, widely known by his stage name “Bobo B,” has passed away. Reports state that Olabiyi died in Ibadan, Oyo State, following a brief illness.
Olabiyi held the position of the former governor of TAMPAN in Oyo State and was the organization’s National Secretary at the time of his passing. His contributions to Nollywood, particularly within the Yoruba film community, have been significant, leaving an indelible mark on the industry.
The actor was scheduled to participate in a film project in Oyo State last month. However, his deteriorating health prevented him from attending, and he was subsequently admitted to the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, where he succumbed to his illness.
The announcement of his demise was made by the Oyo State governor of TAMPAN, Bose Akinola, in an official statement. She expressed her grief, stating, “I have a directive from the Oyo State TAMPAN governor, Her Excellency Yeye Bose Akinola, to announce the death of our TAMPAN National General Secretary, Chief Alhaji Musadshir Ayobami Olabiyi ‘Bobo B.’ May God give his family and the entire TAMPAN members globally the fortitude to bear the loss. Insha Allah, Amen.”
His colleagues and friends in the industry have shared their condolences and personal memories. Abidemi Temitayo paid tribute, reflecting on a cherished moment: “I remembered vividly the night we took that second slide after shooting… That same jovial man is no more. Rest well, Bobo B. The industry will surely miss you, and the world at large.”
Princess Adenike Ajoke also mourned his passing, saying, “May your gentle soul rest in perfect peace, TAMPAN National General Secretary, Chief Alhaji Mudashir Ayobami Olabiyi ‘Bobo B.’ May God give his family and the entire TAMPAN members globally the fortitude to bear the loss. Insha Allah, Amen.”
