UK Veterinary Medicines Directorate Seeks Audit & Assessment Officer for Residues Team

The Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) in the UK is on a search for a new Audit & Assessment Officer to join its Residues Team. This role aims to ensure food safety by evaluating the veterinary residues programs of both current and potential trading partners.

The appointed individual will be tasked with comparing and assessing the monitoring systems of other countries with the UK’s own program to determine equivalency and effectiveness in terms of commodities tested, testing methods employed, and survey design.

The position available is for an SSO Senior Scientific Officer, with a salary ranging from £42,577 to £47,039 per annum, inclusive of a pension scheme. The successful candidate will begin with 25 days of annual leave.

Responsibilities for the position include verifying if the systems implemented by trading partners are adequate to prevent the presence of prohibited substances, authorized medications, and contaminants in food-producing animals and their products, within the set Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs). The overarching goal is to uphold the safety of imported food in the UK market for consumers.
