Vice President to Speak at Ole Miss in Honor of Charlie Kirk
OXFORD, Mississippi – The University of Mississippi, also known as Ole Miss, will host a speaking event featuring Vice President J.D. Vance on Wednesday, October 29, at 5 p.m. The event, rebranded as ‘This is the Turning Point,’ follows the tragic death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on September 10.
Kirk was killed by a single bullet while speaking to students at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. He was 31 years old. The planned 15-event American Comeback Tour was altered following his passing, and the Ole Miss event will serve as a tribute to his mission of promoting free speech.
“Each stop is a chance to honor Charlie’s mission and keep the fight alive,” reads the event website. “We know he wouldn’t want us to surrender or be coerced into silence.” Tickets for students are free, while general admission tickets are available on a waitlist basis.
The doors will open at 3 p.m., two hours before the event starts. Fox News will broadcast a live show from the campus, with Jesse Watters hosting and interviewing Erika Kirk, Charlie’s widow. This interview will air on ‘Jesse Watters Primetime’ on November 5.
Turning Point USA, the organization co-founded by Charlie Kirk, promotes conservative values among high school and college students. It has over 3,500 chapters across various educational institutions.
In a show of respect, the U.S. Senate passed a resolution on October 14, what would have been Kirk’s 32nd birthday, honoring him as a ‘champion of free speech, civil dialogue, and faith.’ Additionally, Turning Point USA named Brooke Rollins as its new board chair following Kirk’s death.
The memorial tour aims to inspire hope and activism among young Americans in support of conservative principles. Those interested in attending can find further information and register for tickets online.
