Broncos Travel to Chargers in Week 5 With Banged-Up Secondary

The Broncos will travel to face the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium on Sunday, Oct. 11 at 2:05 p.m. MT.

The Broncos (2-2) will travel to take on the Los Angeles Chargers (0-4) at SoFi Stadium in Week 5. Denver will aim to get back in the win column during the team’s second AFC West matchup of the season.

Quarterback Bo Nix and the Broncos’ offense will look for a fast start against a Chargers defense that has allowed 26.5 points per game in 2026.

After leading the team with 93 scrimmage yards in Week 4, running back RJ Harvey could aim for another strong performance in Week 5.

Los Angeles will be searching for its first win after battling back during the second half of a Week 4 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Denver’s defense will be tasked with limiting quarterback Justin Herbert, who led the Chargers’ offense to 17 points and over 200 yards after halftime in last week’s loss.

The Broncos ruled out cornerbacks Pat Surtain II (ankle) and Riley Moss (ribs). Wide receiver Pat Bryant, who was listed as a nonparticipant on Denver’s practice report this week, was placed on injured reserve on Friday.

Cornerbacks Pat Surtain II and Riley Moss were previously ruled out due to injury and are among the team’s seven inactive players. The Broncos have added a pair of players to their game-day roster for a Week 5 matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers.

‘We know what our mission is,’ guard Quinn Meinerz said. ‘It’s about going 1-0 every single week.’

The Broncos last wore the uniform combination in the regular season during a Week 3 matchup with the Chargers in 2025.

The Broncos will be without a pair of starting cornerbacks against the Chargers. Denver also signed defensive back Ugo Amadi to the practice squad.

A Broncos Ring of Famer and a longtime team executive have both earned a statewide honor.

‘We’ll make a change offensively,’ Payton said Thursday. ‘I’ll call the plays.’

Several Broncos improved to full participants as Denver’s Week 5 game nears.

‘It’s all about winning,’ quarterback Bo Nix said Wednesday. ‘It’s all about putting our team in the best situation possible.’
