Temporary Flight Restrictions Set for Notable Funeral in Glendale

GLENDALE, Arizona – Thousands are expected to attend the funeral of a prominent conservative activist at State Farm Stadium this weekend. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has implemented temporary flight restrictions over parts of metro Phoenix for security and VIP movement.
The restrictions will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day during the funeral services. Notable figures, including former President Donald Trump and Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, are expected to arrive, likely flying through Luke Air Force Base, located about seven miles from the stadium.
FAA documents indicate that all aircraft are prohibited from flying within 10 nautical miles of Luke Air Force Base, except for military aircraft directly supporting the president and the Secret Service. This restriction is crucial for ensuring the safety and security of the event.
The FAA also published specific flight restrictions around State Farm Stadium for the following times: Friday, Sept. 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Sunday, Sept. 21, from 7 a.m. to 5:01 p.m. During these hours, flying within 10 nautical miles of the stadium will only be permitted for emergency medical, public safety, and military aircraft with coordination from air traffic control.
Sky Harbor International Airport, located slightly more than 20 miles from the stadium, is within a 30 nautical mile radius where many commercial flights operate. The FAA has assured that the temporary flight restrictions will not impact regularly scheduled commercial flights to and from the airport.
Airport spokesman Greg Roybal urges travelers to prepare for busy travel times, providing tips for passengers and families coming to Sky Harbor during the heightened security period.
