Lorenzo Musetti Chengdu Open 2025

Chengdu, ChinaLorenzo Musetti, the top seed at the Chengdu Open, demonstrated resilience as he secured a spot in the quarter-finals on September 20, 2025. Musetti, who was last year’s finalist, triumphed over #NextGenATP player Dino Prizmic with a score of 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 in a match that lasted two hours and 16 minutes.

In his first match in over two weeks, Musetti faced early tension but managed to find his rhythm, especially in the final set. ‘The first match in China is always tough… I had to find my way and in the third set I started to play better and take the lead,’ Musetti commented post-match.

With this win, Musetti improved his tournament record to 6-2, tying for the most quarter-finals reached and victories in Chengdu history. He aims to avenge last year’s final defeat to Yibing Wu, whom he lost to in straight sets.

Musetti’s next opponent is Nikoloz Basilashvili, who won his quarter-final spot after defeating his American opponent 6-2, 7-6(4). Basilashvili’s victory marks his first success against the American in their four meetings.

Recently, Musetti has made strides in the PIF ATP Live Race To Turin ranking, placing eighth and only 25 points behind the seventh position. ‘It was a great run for me, but hopefully this year will go even better, and this is a nice start,’ he said, emphasizing his ambitions for the tournament.
