Alex Bregman Faces Health Concerns Ahead of Wild Card Series

Boston, MA – Alex Bregman is set to play a crucial role for the Boston Red Sox as they enter the postseason, but health concerns may impact his performance. Red Sox chief baseball officer Craig Breslow announced that Bregman is feeling under the weather after missing the last two games of the regular season. Despite this, Breslow expects the third baseman to participate in Game 1 of the Wild Card Series against the New York Yankees on Tuesday.
Bregman traveled to New York separately from the team, but he was spotted practicing at Yankee Stadium on Monday, according to WEEI‘s Rob Bradford. The 31-year-old has made a significant impact in his first season with the Red Sox, achieving an OPS of .821, the highest since 2019. He has proven to be a valuable asset both on and off the field.
With eight consecutive postseason appearances with the Houston Astros, Bregman brings veteran experience to the Red Sox. He helped lead the Astros to two World Series titles, and during his time, the team prevailed over the Yankees in all three playoff matchups.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone spoke on Bregman’s influence, saying, “He’s had a real positive impact on their team, their clubhouse, their culture. He’s definitely an impact player for them.” Bregman’s ability to handle third base and be a tough opponent at bat will be crucial, especially since the Yankees will feature left-handed pitchers Max Fried and Carlos Rodón in the series.
Game 1 of the Wild Card Series is scheduled for Tuesday at 6:08 p.m. ET on ESPN. The Red Sox will rely on Bregman’s experience and skill as they strive for a successful playoff run.
