Paramount+ Renews ‘Lioness’ for Third Season Featuring Star-Studded Cast

LOS ANGELES, CA – Paramount+ has confirmed that ‘Lioness,’ the espionage thriller series, will return for a third season. This announcement comes nearly ten months after the season two finale aired in December 2024.
The renewal was long-expected after reports hinted at its continuation. Executive producers Zoe Saldaña and Nicole Kidman both star in the series, which depicts the story of CIA operatives confronting evolving threats. The announcement was made on October 1, 2025, just over a year since season two premiered.
‘Lioness’ follows a team led by Joe (Saldaña), Kaitlyn (Kidman), and Byron (Michael Kelly) as they tackle new challenges in their fight against terrorism. The season two logline highlights the intensified stakes as they enlist a new operative to infiltrate a looming threat at home.
Production details for the new season are forthcoming, with the pause attributed to the busy schedules of its star-studded cast. While Kidman had to negotiate a new contract, Saldaña’s existing deal spanned three seasons. Filming is expected to begin in October 2025.
The series, praised for its gripping narrative and high-caliber performances, includes a cast featuring Morgan Freeman, Laysla De Oliveira, Genesis Rodriguez, and more. Kidman received a Critics Choice nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in season two, underscoring the show’s acclaim.
‘Lioness’ is part of Taylor Sheridan’s expanding portfolio on Paramount+, which includes other hit series like ‘Mayor of Kingstown’ and ‘Tulsa King.’ As Sheridan’s creations continue to thrive, fans of ‘Lioness’ await more details about the upcoming season.
