Hamas Agrees to Hostage Release Under U.S. Peace Proposal Conditions

Washington, D.C. — Hamas announced on Friday that it agrees to release all remaining Israeli hostages if Israel withdraws from Gaza and specific field conditions are met. This announcement comes as President Donald Trump sets a deadline for Hamas to sign on to the peace plan he proposed earlier this week.
Trump’s deadline is set for 6 p.m. ET on Sunday. He asserts that if the agreement is not reached, severe consequences will follow for Hamas. In a social media post, Trump stated, “If this LAST CHANCE agreement is not reached, all HELL… will break out against Hamas.”
Hamas also indicated further negotiations are necessary to finalize the deal. They expressed readiness to hand over the administration of the Gaza Strip to a Palestinian technocratic body, despite not agreeing to disarmament or governance changes mentioned in Trump’s 20-point plan.
Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces are escalating their operations in Gaza City, prompting criticism from the international community regarding humanitarian issues. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated his long-standing opposition to a Palestinian state while facing international pressure, as several Western nations recognize Palestinian statehood.
Qatar‘s Prime Minister praised Hamas’ conditional agreement and stated that his country is working with Egypt and the U.S. to mediate discussions aimed at ending the conflict.
On social media, Trump called for an immediate halt to Israeli bombings in Gaza to ensure the safe release of the hostages, stating that current conditions are too dangerous for any rescue missions.
After the latest developments, observers noted that around 48 hostages are still held by Hamas, with only 20 believed to be alive. The proposed peace plan includes provisions for the immediate cessation of hostilities and the exchange of hostages for detained Gazans.
European and Middle Eastern leaders have welcomed the U.S. proposal, while the Palestinian Authority described Trump’s efforts as “sincere and determined.” As the situation evolves, the international community watches closely as tensions remain high in the region.
