Duncanville Desoto High School Football Rivalry

DUNCANVILLE, Texas — The highly anticipated rivalry game between the Duncanville Panthers and the DeSoto Eagles is set for Friday at 7 p.m. This matchup is a favorite among Texas high school football fans, showcasing top talent and fierce competition.

Both teams have enjoyed recent success, with each winning two state titles in the last three years. Historically, they each have three state titles. Fans can stream the game live on Friday Night Football, marking the fifth consecutive year WFAA has broadcast this rivalry.

This season presents a unique challenge for both schools, as they enter the game with losses under their belts. DeSoto started the season with losses to Creekside (GA) and North Crowley, struggling without quarterback Legend Howell for part of that time. Meanwhile, Duncanville was surprisingly defeated by Waxahachie, making it the first time since 2015 that both teams do not come into this game undefeated.

Duncanville has only played three games this season, which could be a factor in their earlier loss. Head Coach Reginald Samples’ team comes off their third bye week and will need to be fully prepared to face DeSoto. The Panthers feature standout players including four-star wide receiver Trenton Yancey and three-star players Ayson Theus and Zach Turner.

On the flipside, DeSoto boasts all-world wide receiver Ethan “Boobie” Feaster, who has quickly made a name for himself in Texas high school football. After reclassifying, Feaster is now viewed as one of the best receivers in the class of 2027. He is set to catch passes from quarterback Legend Howell, who has recently returned from injury to boost the Eagles’ offense.

The game carries extra significance, as the winner will be well-positioned to claim the District 11-6A title. If DeSoto wins, they could take the district outright, while a victory for Duncanville could lead to a three-way tie at the top with Waxahachie.

A special 30-minute pregame show will begin at 6:30 p.m. CT, leading up to kickoff at 7 p.m. CT, with commentary provided by Mike Leslie and Hek’ma Harrison. After the game, viewers can catch highlights and reactions on Friday Night Football: 5th Quarter at 10:40 p.m. on WFAA+.
