Los Angeles, CA – Gary Oldman‘s acclaimed film ‘Darkest Hour‘ will be available for streaming on Paramount+ starting November 1. The movie, which won Oldman his first Oscar for Best Actor, depicts the early days of World War II and the significant leadership of British Prime Minister Winston Churchill.

‘Darkest Hour,’ directed by Joe Wright, showcases Churchill’s challenges as he navigates the dangers posed by Adolf Hitler and the German army. Taking the leadership role from the unpopular Neville Chamberlain, Churchill faces a vital decision: to negotiate peace or rally the country for an arduous battle against Germany.

Oldman’s performance has been praised as a transformative portrayal of a complex figure during one of Britain’s darkest moments. “It was a powerful, courageous turn against an existential threat,” Oldman said in previous interviews.

The film received two Academy Awards, including another nomination for Best Picture. Critics noted that despite its strong Rotten Tomatoes score of 84%, Oldman’s victory was perceived as a close contest against other worthy nominees.

‘Darkest Hour’ features a strong supporting cast, including Kristin Scott Thomas, Lily James, Stephen Dillane, Ben Mendelsohn, and Ronald Pickup. Wright’s direction and Anthony McCarten’s screenplay bring to life the urgency of Churchill’s leadership during World War II.

In addition to ‘Darkest Hour,’ Oldman continues to star in ‘Slow Horses,’ currently airing its fifth season on Apple TV+. The series has been successful, leading to its renewal earlier this year. Wright, meanwhile, has been working on a new series about Benito Mussolini, which has received praise for its performance and storytelling.

As ‘Darkest Hour’ prepares to hit streaming platforms, fans can expect a gripping reminder of leadership amid crisis.
