Craig Albernaz Baltimore Orioles Manager

BALTIMORE, Md. — The Baltimore Orioles announced Monday they have hired Craig Albernaz as their new manager. This decision comes after a disappointing 2025 season in which the team finished last in the American League East with a 75-87 record.

Team president Mike Elias expressed excitement about Albernaz’s appointment. “We are elated to welcome Craig Albernaz as the next manager of the Orioles and our leader on the field,” Elias said in a statement. “Craig has built an exemplary career across multiple successful organizations and brings a tremendous amount of experience, knowledge, and talent to our organization.”

Albernaz, who is 43, replaces Tony Mansolino, who managed on an interim basis after the firing of Brandon Hyde in May. Mansolino led the team to a 60-59 record following a poor start of 15-28 under Hyde. “We believe he is the right person at the right time to elevate our baseball operations and guide our team back to the playoffs and a World Series championship,” Elias added.

Albernaz previously served as the associate manager for the Cleveland Guardians, who finished first in the AL Central this year. He was promoted after serving as the bench coach in 2024. His experience includes a coaching stint with the San Francisco Giants and managing in the minor leagues, where he earned accolades for his leadership.

The Orioles possess a talented roster that includes promising players like shortstop Gunnar Henderson and catcher Adley Rutschman. Despite a tough season, Albernaz is optimistic about revitalizing the team’s path to success.

“I am deeply honored and humbled to join the storied Baltimore Orioles organization,” Albernaz said. “This is a tremendous honor, and I’m grateful to Mike Elias and the entire Orioles team for entrusting me with the responsibility of leading this talented club.”

The Orioles plan to formally introduce Albernaz at a news conference scheduled for November 4.
