TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama running back Jam Miller is expected to play on Saturday night against Tennessee, according to head coach Kalen DeBoer. Miller left last week’s game against Missouri with a concussion and did not return.

The senior, who leads the Crimson Tide in rushing with 267 yards this season, was officially listed as “questionable” earlier in the week. “We’re expecting him to go today,” DeBoer said. “He’s obviously a great football player, but he’s an emotional leader for our football team.”

DeBoer also confirmed he will don his signature “black hoodie” for the game, which has historically been a good luck charm for the team. “Yeah, there will be one on,” he stated. The Crimson Tide is 13-2 when DeBoer wears the hoodie on the sideline.

Alabama (5-1, 3-0 SEC) is set to host Tennessee (5-1, 2-1) at 6:30 p.m. at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The game will air on ABC.

Miller’s status is vital for Alabama’s offensive plans. He suffered the concussion after a crucial reception during the fourth quarter against Missouri, raising concerns about his availability. DeBoer is optimistic, emphasizing, “Jam’s making good progress.”

If Miller cannot play, redshirt freshman Kevin Riley is likely to start. Although Riley began the season as the No. 5 back on the depth chart, he has already started twice this season. However, he has only managed 83 yards on 28 carries in recent games.

Meanwhile, DeBoer commented on the team’s determination to overcome adversity and improve. “Our guys made a decision… to fight. They keep punching and continue to improve,” he said, highlighting the mental resilience of his players.

As the Crimson Tide prepares for this crucial rivalry game, all eyes will be on Miller’s progress and the overall performance of the team.
