Alan Ritchson Reflects on His Smallville Aquaman Costume While Discussing Future Projects
Alan Ritchson, known for his role as Aquaman in the popular series Smallville, recently shared his humorous reflections on the superhero costume he donned for the show. Ritchson, who portrayed Arthur Curry in multiple Smallville episodes, expressed amusement at his orange Speedo ensemble, joking that it makes him want to ‘run from all civilization’.
Smallville, a DC universe series created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, followed the journey of Clark Kent towards becoming Superman. Throughout its runtime on The WB and later The CW, the show featured various DC characters, including Ritchson’s Aquaman.
Recounting his time on Smallville, Ritchson humorously remarked on the challenging nature of his superhero costume, particularly the bright orange suit that he had to wear as Aquaman. The actor candidly expressed his surprise at the outfit choice, quipping that he ‘can’t believe anybody thought it was a good idea to dress me like that’.
In a recent interview, Ritchson reflected on the experience of portraying Aquaman and how it shaped his early career in acting. Despite the unconventional costume, he acknowledged that starting out in the industry limited his ability to voice concerns about wardrobe choices. However, he humorously confessed that the Speedo costume was indeed ‘scary’.
Following his stint on Smallville, Ritchson’s career has expanded to include a variety of roles across film and television. From voicing Raphael in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to playing Hank Hall in Titans, the actor has established himself in the entertainment industry.
Ritchson’s upcoming projects include a role in the highly anticipated film ‘Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre’ directed by Guy Ritchie. Set during World War II, the movie features a star-studded cast with names like Henry Cavill. Additionally, Ritchson will appear in Jon Gunn’s ‘Ordinary Angels’, alongside award-winning actress Hilary Swank.
As Ritchson continues to make his mark in Hollywood with diverse roles and projects, his portrayal of Aquaman in Smallville remains a memorable part of his journey in the entertainment industry.
