Aubrey Plaza Christmas Tradition

NEW YORK, NY — Aubrey Plaza shared her eccentric Christmas tradition during her appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show on October 10, 2025. The actress, known for her role in Parks and Recreation, discussed dressing up as the Christmas witch every Christmas morning.

While promoting her new children’s book, Luna and the Witch Throw a Halloween Party, Plaza explained that she invites friends with children to have their kids sign up for time slots on Christmas morning. She then surprises them at 7:30 a.m., dressed as a whimsical witch, and pretends to steal their presents. “It adds an element of fright on Christmas morning, which kids love,” Plaza said.

Drew Barrymore expressed her admiration for Plaza’s books, including The Legend of the Christmas Witch (2021) and The Return of the Christmas Witch (2022). A video clip aired showing Plaza scaring a child in her witch costume, complete with a dark-red hat and cape, which brought laughter from the audience.

Plaza jokingly confirmed her status as the most recognizable person from Delaware, saying, “Thank you, I will reign as queen of Delaware forever.” She humorously added that Joe Biden, the current president and also from Delaware, has never been able to surpass her in popularity.

In addition to her holiday antics, Plaza is venturing into animated storytelling with her new series, Kevin, coming to Prime Video. The show, co-created by Plaza and Dan Murphy, features a cat navigating his parents’ breakup, which Plaza voices. “It’s got this indie-like vibe to it too. I think it will be unexpected,” she noted.
