The BBC and Amazon Music have struck a partnership that will now offer BBC podcasts to audiences worldwide, marking a significant expansion for the BBC’s audio unit.

Beginning this week, subscribers to Amazon’s Prime and Music Unlimited services will have access to a curated selection of over 50 popular BBC podcasts, free from advertisements.

Notable podcasts in the lineup include Americast, BBC Global News Podcast, and Dua Lipa: At Your Service, among others.

The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed, but this collaboration represents a significant step in the BBC Studios’ growth strategy.

In a recent move, BBC Studios launched its Apple subscription podcast service, BBC Podcasts Premium, in 166 new countries across several continents.

In addition to ad-free access to selected BBC podcasts, the agreement will also allow Amazon Music users to listen to the complete BBC catalog on the ad-supported free tier of the service.

Louise la Grange, Senior VP of Audio, Digital News & Streaming at BBC Studios, expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting the BBC’s strength in global content production and storytelling.

Shea Simpson, Head of Podcast Business at Amazon Music, emphasized the popularity of BBC programs and the accessibility for Amazon’s global audience.

Listeners can now enjoy a variety of BBC podcasts on Amazon Music, including Americast, BBC Global News Podcast, and Dua Lipa: At Your Service.
