Dolphins Face Commanders in NFL’s First Game in Spain
Madrid, Spain – The Miami Dolphins are set to play against the Washington Commanders on Sunday in the NFL’s first regular-season game held in Spain. The game will kick off at 9:30 a.m. Eastern at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
Miami will be missing five players, including starting cornerback Rasul Douglas, who is sidelined by a foot and ankle injury. Douglas missed last week’s game and the team turned to JuJu Brents in his place. Another notable absence is kick returner Dee Eskridge, who is out with a shoulder injury.
Despite the injuries, the Dolphins are receiving a boost as linebacker Bradley Chubb, who was previously listed as questionable, will play. He is expected to help strengthen the Dolphins’ defense against a struggling Commanders offense, which is currently without its top receiver, Terry McLaurin, due to a quadriceps injury.
Washington has ruled out seven players including starting quarterback Jayden Daniels (left elbow) and wide receiver Treylon Burks (finger). The team has also elevated running back Chase Edmonds and cornerback Tre Hawkins from the practice squad.
This game marks the conclusion of the NFL’s 2025 international series, and both teams will be looking to improve their records. The Dolphins have won two of their last three games and have been praised for their balanced offensive style. In contrast, the Commanders have lost three consecutive games, conceding a total of 110 points during that streak.
As both teams finalize their preparations, fans in Spain are excited to witness NFL history at one of the most famous stadiums in the world.
