Gabe Vincent Lakers Season Opener

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Gabe Vincent is set to start for the Los Angeles Lakers in their season opener against the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night. This follows a tumultuous offseason for the Lakers, where several key players, including D’Angelo Russell and Anthony Davis, were traded or moved around.

Vincent, who signed with the Lakers in 2023 after a standout season with the Miami Heat, expressed optimism about his future with the team amidst all the changes. “I’m all in on Laker basketball. I’m all in on this team,” he told The Athletic. “They’ll get everything I have to offer because I’m trying to win.”

The 29-year-old guard began his professional journey as an undrafted rookie and climbed through the ranks to become a pivotal player for his teams. Vincent faced challenges last season, battling injuries that limited his contributions, but remains committed to the Lakers’ goals this season.

Vincent’s strong preseason performance, which included an average of 16.3 points and nearly 55% shooting from three-point range, has solidified his role in the starting lineup. Lakers coach JJ Redick has praised Vincent for his energy, positivity, and willingness to sacrifice for the team.

Despite uncertainties regarding his future, especially with his contract expiring next year, Vincent is focused on helping the Lakers contend this season. “It helps me stay in the moment,” he said. “I’ve had my head down working for so long. It’s hard to look up sometimes.”

The Lakers will need Vincent’s contributions, as they are without star player LeBron James for the start of the season due to sciatica. Their matchup with the Warriors promises to be an exciting start to the new season.
