Mariners Lead Series After Naylor’s Home Run in Game 4
SEATTLE, WA — The Seattle Mariners took a commanding lead in the American League Championship Series by winning Game 4 against the Toronto Blue Jays on October 16, 2025. The victory puts the Mariners ahead 3-1 in the best-of-seven series.
Josh Naylor opened the scoring with a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning, hitting the ball 394 feet into center field off Blue Jays pitcher Max Scherzer. This was Naylor’s second home run of the postseason, and he now has four career postseason homers.
“I’m just trying to play my game and help the team win,” Naylor said after the game. “Every swing counts, and I was happy to get us on the board.”
As the game continued at T-Mobile Park, the Mariners’ starting pitcher, Luis Castillo, excelled on the mound, allowing only two hits over six innings. The Mariners’ defense held strong, limiting the Blue Jays to just one run over the course of the game.
The Mariners, who won the first two games of the series in Toronto, have steadily built their momentum as they aim for their first World Series appearance. With Game 5 scheduled for October 17, the Blue Jays are facing elimination and must respond decisively to keep their championship hopes alive.
“We have the talent to bounce back,” said Blue Jays manager John Schneider. “It’s about executing our game plan and not letting one game dictate the series.”
The excitement continues as the teams head into the pivotal Game 5, where every moment will count.
