Martin Scorsese to Direct DiCaprio and Lawrence in New Horror Film

LOS ANGELES, CA — Oscar-winning director Martin Scorsese will direct a new film titled “What Happens at Night,” starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence. The film, based on Peter Cameron’s acclaimed novel, is set to begin production in early 2026, with Apple Original Films and Studiocanal co-financing the project.
The story follows an American couple who travel to a remote snowy European town to adopt a child. The wife, who is battling cancer, finds her health declining, adding tension to their already challenging journey. As they check into a mysterious hotel, they encounter an array of unusual characters, including a flamboyant singer and a shady businessman.
Patrick Marber, known for his work on “Closer,” is adapting the screenplay for this surreal horror tale. The collaboration marks Scorsese’s seventh project with DiCaprio, a partnership known for classics such as “The Wolf of Wall Street” and “Killers of the Flower Moon.” Meanwhile, this will be Lawrence’s first time directed by Scorsese, even though he produced her upcoming film “Die My Love,” which has generated strong Oscar buzz.
Fans are excited about the reunion of DiCaprio and Lawrence, who last appeared together in the 2021 film “Don’t Look Up.” Both actors are currently in the spotlight for their individual projects, with DiCaprio receiving acclaim for his performance in Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another.”
While an official release date for “What Happens at Night” has yet to be announced, early buzz suggests it will be a significant addition to both filmmakers’ portfolios.
