Miami Dolphins Vs Seattle Seahawks 2024

The Miami Dolphins faced a tough loss against the Seattle Seahawks, who secured a 24-3 victory on Sunday afternoon at Lumen Field. Despite an aggressive defensive strategy that resulted in two turnovers and three sacks, the Dolphins were unable to overcome the Seahawks’ offensive power.

Quarterback Skylar Thompson, in his first regular season start since Week 18 of the 2022 season, managed to complete 13 of 19 passes for 107 yards. However, Thompson’s game was cut short due to a chest injury in the third quarter, whereupon Tim Boyle filled in as quarterback, completing 7 of 13 passes for 79 yards.

The Seahawks initiated the scoring early, with quarterback Geno Smith connecting with wide receiver Tyler Lockett for an 18-yard gain that set up a successful 56-yard field goal by kicker Jason Myers, granting Seattle an early 3-0 lead. Following a missed 57-yard field goal attempt by Dolphins kicker Jason Sanders, Seattle capitalized with running back Zach Charbonnet executing a four-yard touchdown run, establishing a 10-point lead.

The Dolphins’ defense responded with a pivotal turnover, as cornerback Kader Kohou intercepted a pass intended for Charbonnet, setting the Dolphins up at Seattle’s six-yard line. However, they could only secure a 23-yard field goal from the advantageous position.

The Seahawks extended their lead to 17-3 at the end of the first quarter with Smith’s deep 71-yard touchdown pass to DK Metcalf, the sole play of an explosive drive. The Dolphins recorded another takeaway towards the end of the third quarter when defensive tackle Zach Sieler intercepted a tipped pass, but the Dolphins failed to convert this opportunity into points.

Seattle concluded the scoring with a 10-yard touchdown run by Charbonnet in the fourth quarter. Miami’s offense struggled, as evidenced by Achane leading their ground game with only 30 yards over 11 carries and Jaylen Wright contributing 17 yards.

In their passing game, Miami saw Tyreek Hill leading with 40 yards on three catches, while Jaylen Waddle had the highest receptions, catching four passes for 26 yards.

Defensively, safety Jordan Poyer and linebacker Jordyn Brooks were noteworthy, each with nine tackles. Additionally, cornerback Jalen Ramsey led the game with two tackles for loss.

The Dolphins are next scheduled to play against the Tennessee Titans at Hard Rock Stadium on Monday, September 30, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
