NHL Veteran Phil Kessel Works Out for Vancouver Canucks in Abbotsford
The Vancouver Canucks‘ general manager, Patrik Allvin, announced on Monday that the team had invited free agent forward Phil Kessel to work out with them in Abbotsford, B.C. this week.
Phil Kessel, a 17-year NHL veteran, has been without a team for the current season after his stint with the Vegas Knights in 2023-24.
During his last season with the Knights, Kessel played all 82 regular-season games, contributing 14 goals and 36 points, helping the team secure their first-ever Stanley Cup victory.
According to reports, Kessel’s camp has been in contact with a few NHL teams as the trade deadline approaches on March 8, showing his desire to return to professional play.
At 36 years old, Kessel holds the record for the most consecutive regular-season games played in the NHL, with an impressive 1,064 games under his belt.
Originally drafted fifth overall by the Boston Bruins in the 2006 NHL Draft, Kessel boasts an illustrious career with three Stanley Cup championships and three All-Star appearances to his name.
Given his experience and achievements, Kessel remains a sought-after player in the league despite not having played since the previous season.
