Seattle Kraken Set to Open Season Against Anaheim Ducks

Seattle, WA – The preseason is over, and the Seattle Kraken are ready to kick off their NHL season on Thursday night at Climate Pledge Arena against the Anaheim Ducks. With the season starting, some sports pundits are skeptical about the Kraken’s chances of making the playoffs, which could motivate the team further.
New head coach Lane Lambert hopes to strengthen the team’s defensive structure after last season’s struggles. This offseason, the Kraken made several strategic moves, including signing forward Mason Marchment, center Frederick Gaudreau, defenseman Ryan Lindgren, and goaltender Matt Murray.
One key focus for Seattle this year is to regain their previous depth scoring. In the 2022–23 season, the Kraken had success with six players scoring 20 or more goals. Last season, only four teams accomplished this feat, all of which reached the playoffs. Analysis of the Kraken’s roster indicates they are well-rounded but may lack elite goal scoring.
Rookie Berkly Catton is under the spotlight this preseason as he made the team’s roster cut. After showing promise in a game against Calgary, Catton struggled in another game against Edmonton, where he took three penalties. Still, his development is crucial for the Kraken’s future.
The Kraken open the season with two significant games, first against the Ducks and then the Vegas Golden Knights. The Ducks are expected to improve this year under head coach Joel Quenneville, making Thursday’s game important for early division positioning.
This season is full of expectations, and the Kraken look to improve upon their previous performance. Fans are eager to see how the team competes with new strategies and young talent.
