Los Angeles, CA — Actor Shia LaBeouf shared shocking details about a past conflict with his mentor, Jon Voight, regarding political differences. LaBeouf, 39, disclosed this during an interview about his role in the documentary “Megadoc,” which explores the making of the 2024 film, “Megalopolis,” starring Voight, 86.

LaBeouf revealed that in a heated phone call around 2016, following Donald Trump‘s presidential win, he threatened to confront Voight physically. “We had a big fight on the phone where I told him I was going to come to his house, and we were going to fist fight, and I hung up the phone,” LaBeouf recounted. This incident marked the beginning of a years-long silence between the two.

Having first collaborated on the set of the 2003 film “Holes,” LaBeouf spoke highly of Voight’s influence on his career. “He was like my mentor from a young age. He was the first real actor I ever met,” LaBeouf said, acknowledging the significant impact Voight had in guiding him through the film industry.

Their ideological clash stems from LaBeouf’s strong opposition to Trump, illustrated by his 2017 art installation dubbed “He Will Not Divide Us,” which encouraged protest against the then-President. In contrast, Voight has been a steadfast Trump supporter, endorsing him in both of his presidential campaigns.

<p"Voight's politics and mine are very different," LaBeouf said. However, he emphasized a resolution to their feud, stating, "I was in the midst of doing my ninth step in this program I’m in, and I had to go make amends to Voight. I love him very much." Their renewed relationship showcases the ability to reconcile despite political differences.
